“We designed the first Journal cover on our kitchen table when I was in the 8th grade. It’s part of me. ”
“I tried to leave, then the vortex got me!” Ryan says of making his return to Greenville. Though he’s only officially been at Community Journals Publishing Group since 2012, the Journals have been part of his life since the company was founded in 1999.
When asked what he is most passionate about professionally, he replies, “Growing the Upstate. We have a unique business model. Our first goal is to be the best in the world at communicating locally. Growing the Upstate is a byproduct of being successful in achieving our goal. Or,” he adds, “Talking to people about what they do. Both personally and professionally.”
With a commitment to innovation and unafraid to make mistakes, get his hands dirty or do whatever it takes to get the job done, Ryan is continually chasing a new idea, column, or opportunity (and it’s seriously tough to keep up–shoot espresso and fasten your seatbelt).
Also a self-proclaimed “close-talker,” one thing he can’t stop talking about is opportunity.
