Alex Cooper is a staff writer for Community Journals, writing for The Greenville Journal and the Upstate Business Journal. A native of Easley, he recently moved back to the Upstate after a decade away. He earned his B.A. in Government and Community Studies at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and his M.A. in Gender Studies from Central European University while it was in Budapest, Hungary.
Alex served as a daily news reporter then engagement editor for the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. Alex’s reporting can be found in NBC News, Slate, INTO and the Washington Blade. When not reporting or binging the news, you can find him driving the backroads of the Upstate, trying new coffee shops or planning his next adventure to the Balkans.
