Andrew joined the Community Journals team as a multimedia journalist after graduating from the University of South Carolina in May 2016. He’s currently writing about county government, regional business (aerospace, technology, etc.) and much more for the Greenville Journal and Upstate Business Journal. Before joining the team, he produced award-winning stories that appeared on the front pages of both state and national publications.
Andrew is passionate about storytelling. It led to him being named South Carolina’s “most promising student journalist” by the South Carolina Press Association in 2015. He also earned the 2016 J. Rion McKissick Award for being the “most outstanding multimedia journalism student” as well as the 2016 Ward Sinclair Award for his story about the decimation of the honeybee in South Carolina, which appeared in publications throughout the nation and is currently being reviewed for the 2016 Evert Clark and Seth Payne Young Science Journalist Award.
When he’s not chasing stories, Andrew enjoys running, finding new recipes, binge watching “House of Cards” and capturing landscapes through the lens of his camera.
